Digestion Tune Up for Spring. Digestion is key to our health as everything begins in the gut. now is the time to follow my digestion tune up for spring to get your body and mind back in shape.

The key foods which can cause gut issues are wheat gluten, cows’ milk, sugar and white salt. Processed foods are packed full of most of these foods so one simple change you can make is to ditch the processed foods and make your meals from scratch then you know exactly what is in them.

Wheat alternatives – rye or spelt.
Cows milk alternatives – goats milk or plant based milks such as almond, oat, rice or soya. Sugar alternatives – honey or maple syrup.
White salt alternative – Pink Himalayan salt.

Steps to take to improve your digestion:

1. Remove any foods which are causing you problems from the above 4 for one month. If you find it difficult to eliminate more than one of these foods at a time, just try one at a time.

2. Take apple cider vinegar 1 teaspoon in water before each meal or a plant based digestive enzyme with each meal for one month.

3. Avoid all raw food for 2 weeks eating bland foods which are easy to digest to give the digestion a rest and time to heal. Eat stewed fruit and cooked vegetables avoid salads and spicy foods and those which are hard to digest.

4. Drink 2 litres of water per day and minimise alcohol and caffeine.

5. After a month take a good Probiotic supplement to restore your gut flora plus vitamin B complex, vitamin C,, omega oils and in winter a vitamin D supplement. 6. Eat non processed foods and plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.
